Not long ago, I was asked this exact question & due to the fact that our web site is still non-operational, I decided to put something together. So here it is...
BEYOND THE BEACH CHILDREN'S FOUNDATION (BTBCF) is a group of like-minded people who "encourages travelers to make their journeys more than just vacations; to reach beyond the beach and assist us in equipping the children of the Dominican Respublic with the tools necessarty for learning and living, dreaming and achieving; to empower the children to free themselves from the restraints of poverty and lack of opportunity, and decide their own futures."
BTBCF supports numerous Charities in the Dominican Republic and it is through our yearly "DOMINICAN FIESTA" fundraising that we can continue our work that was started in 2004. Here are a few of the Charities we support through monetary donations or hard goods ....
Mustard Seed Communities expanded to the Dominican Republic in 2001, establishing the third international location to provide care to children with disabilities. MSC acquired property in the small town of Cangrejo, on the outskirts of Puerto Plata and constructed Hogar Immanuel, a home for children with disabilities. Additionally, MSC Dominican Republic operates community development and outreach initiatives providing jobs, training and nutrition to the local community.
Sosua Kids Children in the Dominican Republic are entitled to attend school at no cost, but they must have full school uniforms, backpacks and school materials. Their primary purpose is to provide school uniforms for children who otherwise could not afford them or go to school. Our vacationers assist by taking school supplies & backpacks to the D.R. and the supplies are then distributed where needed.
The DREAM PProject provides more than 800,000 hours of quality education to more than 7,500 children through 14 different programs across 27 communities in the Dominican Republic. In addition, DREAM Programs indirectly benefit thousands more each year by reaching the student's family members, social networks and their extended communities. BEYOND THE BEACH commits to a 4 year College or Universtiy Scholarship to assist a deserving young man or young woman to reach their academic goals & secure the career they so dream of.
Dominican Eyes Plus+ Beyond the Beach collects used eye glasses, which are taken through humanitarian packages to the Dominican Republic to be checked over & distributed free of charge to those who desperately need them.
Fundacion Hogar Emiliano is an orphanage located in Santiago, who greatly appreciates what help we can give them.
We thank all interested persons who so willingly give of their resources so that Beyond The Beach Children's Foundation can in turn help the mentioned Charities.
